Jack White took the stage at Third Man’s Blue Room in Nashville just after 10 a.m. to perform a live version of “Lazaretto,” the title track from his forthcoming album, along with a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Power of My Love,” for the B-side. After performing the two tracks, the masters were rushed off to be pressed into 45s, along with sleeves printed from pictures taken at the Blue Room gig that morning. White appeased the small crowd with a few additional songs before he headed off to the record plant. He then rushed the direct-to-acetate records back to Third Man. The first batch of 7″ pressings of “Lazaretto” arrived in fans’ hands 3 hours, 55 minutes and 21 seconds after being recorded.
Third Man’s Blue Room in Nashville, TN is the only venue in the world where artists can record live shows directly onto acetate. Look for upcoming Blue Room releases by the Kills, the Shins, SeaSick Steve and more.
Lazaretto is due to be released June 10, 2014.
